…
Don’t count on them as a primary treatment.
Good for Infections
You often see cranberries or cranberry juice as a recommendation for people who are suffering with urinary tract infections.
It’s an old wives tale that has some truth to it, but you need to be careful not to rely on cranberry juice as a cure for a UTIs.
Studies show that eating cranberries or drinking cranberry juice is good for ‘helping to prevent’ urinary tract infections in people.
Basically this means that consuming cranberries won’t prevent anyone from developing an infection but it may reduce the risk of getting one. By how much is not really known so take that for what it’s worth.
IF YOU GET ONE
Once a UTI starts then eating the berries fresh or drinking cranberry juice won’t cure it or help very much. If you do develop one then it’s usually considered fine to drink cranberry juice, but it’s a must to talk to your doctor about a better treatment.
Cranberries are really good for you and I’d advise you to eat them fresh and drink their juice without any added sugar. The more fresh fruit consumed the better and cranberries are loaded with antioxidants and flavonoids.
But if you do develop any kind of infection then they won’t help much, and so the best course of action would be to talk to your doctor.
Hope this helps.
