Cranberry Seeds

Cranberry seeds are naturally found inside whole cranberries, but they are often discarded when cranberries are juiced or processed, or when they go undigested through the GI tract.

To get the most nutrition from them:

Follow these tips:

1. Eat Whole Cranberries

– The simplest way to consume the seeds is by eating fresh, dried, or frozen cranberries. When chewing them, you’ll naturally consume the seeds, although many will pass through the GI tract which brings us to:

2. Cranberry Seed Powder

– Some health brands sell powdered cranberry seeds, which can be added to your favorite foods. Because the powder is ground seed you absorb every bit of the nutrition.

3. Cold-Pressed Cranberry Seed Oil

– This oil is rich in essential fatty acids and can be used as a salad dressing or a supplement.

4. Homemade Cranberry Seed Butter

– Blend dried cranberry seeds with other nuts or seeds and make a red spread that still tastes awesome.

5. Baking and Cooking

– Use ground cranberry seeds in muffins, energy bars, or granola and the cooking process will automatically open up the berry and seeds inside it.

Here’s a bark recipe that includes cranberry seeds in them. It also includes dried cranberries and I usually use the unsweetened ones and then add a bit of maple syrup to compensate. Better nutrition that way. 👩🏻‍🍳
