Cranberry Napoleons is the recipe today. They are an adaptation of the classic Mille-Feuille (“a thousand layers” in French) which has so many variations and ways it can be made. Traditional Napoleons often use vanilla or custard fillings, while cranberry Napoleons have a more a festive, slightly tart twist, and use whipped cream instead. They are a favorite for fall and winter gatherings. 👩🏻🍳

Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

1 cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 TBSP powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp granulated sugar (for dusting)
Directions
- Preheat Oven – Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut Pastry – Cut the puff pastry into 12 equal rectangles. Place on the baking sheet and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Baked – Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and flaky. Let cool completely.
- Whipped Cream – Whip the cream (with a stand mixer or electric hand mixer) with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Put Together – Place one puff pastry rectangle on a plate, spread cranberry sauce, and top with whipped cream. Repeat for a second layer, then finish with a final pastry rectangle. Repeat 6 times.
- Dust – Dust rectangles with powdered sugar before serving.
