How to make Muesli with Dried Cranberries at Home

3 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats

1/4 cup walnuts

1/2 cup pecans

1/8 cup chia seeds

1/2 cup dehydrated (dried) cranberries

Simple method: Combine all ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Store in an airtight container. Serve with milk.

Just like any other recipe you try, your homemade cranberry muesli can be modified in so many tasty ways.

You can add in or substitute, chopped almonds, pumpkin seeds (pepitas) or sunflower seeds. Along with (or instead of) the dried cranberries you can add in dried blueberries, apricots, dates or mango. Instead of milk you can add in your favorite type of yogurt or milk product. A bit of cinnamon adds some flavor as well.

Muesli is Swiss and came about in 1900. It was simply raw oats soaked overnight in water or juice and then served with nuts, fruit and yogurt. A Swiss doctor invented it and thought it would make a healthy breakfast for his patients.

Fresh cranberries can be used instead of dry one although in a smaller quantity. Cranberries are great for cereals as they add a bit of tart to the mostly sweet taste that fruit generally brings.
