This classic beverage recipe can be made with or without alcohol. Vodka is the main ingredient so it’s naturally an alcoholic drink, but you can serve it any way you like, with instructions on how to make it a virgin Moscow Mule below. This fancy drink originated in the 1940s as a marketing collab between a vodka producer, a ginger beer maker, and a copper mug manufacturer in the U.S. It quickly became a hit and all I can think of is what these people could have done had they had access to Instagram.

4 oz ginger beer

Fresh cranberries and lime slices (optional, for garnish)

Notes
- Sweetness – If you prefer a sweeter drink, use a cranberry juice cocktail instead of pure cranberry juice. For a more tart flavor, stick with unsweetened cranberry juice.
- Fancy – Add garnishes like sugared cranberries, mint sprigs, or a lime wheel to make it look nicer.
- Chill Mug – For an authentic Moscow Mule experience, serve in a chilled copper mug to keep the drink extra cold.
- Non-Alcoholic – Replace vodka with an equal amount of soda water or sparkling cranberry juice for the non-alcoholic, or mocktail version.

*** IMPRESS YOUR GUESTS; MAKE IT BETTER ***
If you want to feel like a worldly bartender, or barmaid, try these tips to show off and make it look like you have skills …
Infuse the Vodka
Infuse it with fresh cranberries or holiday spices like cinnamon and cloves. Let it sit for a few days and the result is a more flavorful drink. Think of it as marination for a cocktail.
Sugar Garnish
Coat fresh cranberries in any kind of syrup you like, then roll them in sugar, and let them dry.
Cranberry Ice Cubes
Freeze fresh cranberries in ice cubes to keep the drink cool while making the drink look cool.
The easiest hack in the universe with the most return on your money. In other words, people will be impressed with a trick a kindergartner can do.
Add some Splash
Add a splash of Prosecco or Champagne to make it bubbly and a tad more “fancy”.
